The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 winner Rashad Evans was set to make his middleweight debut against Tim Kennedy at UFC 205, however a report came out on Tuesday that the fight was cancelled.

According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, UFC President Dana White confirmed that due to medical reasons, the Evans and Kennedy bout has been scrapped from Saturday’s giant New York City fight card.

Evans (19-5-1) was looking to bounce back from a two-fight winning streak by making the drop to 185-pounds. The former TUF winner spent his entire tenure in the UFC at light heavyweight and even held the title for a brief period in 2008.

Kennedy (18-5) has not stepped foot inside the Octagon since his controversial loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in 2014. The former two-time Strikeforce title challenger was looking to make one final run for the title and this bout against Evans was the marquee name he needed.

UFC 205 goes down on Saturday November 12 from New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The event features three title fights including the main event between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
