The Walkout Consultant: UFC 205

When it comes to fighters with bad walkout music, it never ends. UFC 205 is no different, with certain fighters having chosen songs that didn’t fit them or were just plain bad in the past.  This is where I, as MMASucka’s resident board-certified musicologist, step in to help. I will help these fighters find music that will better suit their brand. Or at the very least, help them not walk out to horrible music. If it helps, 2 of the 3 fighters from UFC Fight Night 98 who did not heed my advice lost. That means it might not hurt to entertain these suggestions.

Raquel Pennington

What she last walked out to: “Can’t Hold Us” – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

What she should walk out to next: “Screaming for Vengeance” – Judas Priest

Yes, unfortunately, there are fighters who think it’s cool to walk out to Macklemore. More than one of them, sadly. There are other acts out there who make both better walkout music and are LGBT friendly. In the case of my suggestion for Raquel Pennington, Judas Priest singer Rob Halford was one of the first major rock singers to come out of the closet. So not only does she get an LGBT singer some royalty money by walking out to Judas Priest, but “Screaming for Vengeance” is an apt choice to walk out to against the coach that ignored her on TUF 18 in favor of her own bestie, Meisha Tate. Also: Dat falsetto scream in the intro is an instant hook. Listen below.

Tyron Woodley

What he walked out to last: “King Without a Crown” – Thi’sl

What he should walk out to next: “Woo Ha! (Got You All in Check)” – Busta Rhymes

While “King Without a Crown” may have been an appropriate walkout for Tyron Woodley before he won the UFC Welterweight Title, it’s no longer fitting. After all, “The Chosen One” is now the crowned king of UFC welterweights. Now what does he intend to show the division at UFC 205? That’s right, that he’s got all of 170 lbs. in check, starting with Stephen Thompson.  Check it below and let me know what you think.
