A Skeptical King Mo Not So Sure Roger Gracie Wants To Fight Him

|

When a fighter is out for a long period of time, all they want to do is get back in there as soon as possible. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is no exception.

The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion has not been in the cage since he lost his title to Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante last August and suffered a torn ACL and PCL during the bout.

He was supposed to return at the July 30th Strikeforce/M-1 Global: Fedor vs Henderson, but it was announced on June 25th that Gracie suffered a foot injury that forced him to bow out of the proposed bout. Then on June 28th, the bout was rebooked for the next Strikeforce Arena Show, which takes place September 10th in Cincinnati,OH. Lawal did not seem so sure that Gracie was really hurt to begin with.

“I don’t know, let me put it like this. I heard rumors he was hurt, but then he was out in Canada with GSP doing seminars and training, so maybe he was injured. It don’t matter, we are still fighting September 10th”, said Lawal.

Why would he want to fight Mo….Mo will kick the shit out of him. On a side note, what will happen to Mo now with the UFC, is he still in the mix or will he get lost in the shuffle and get pushed out to a lower tier company?

    • It will be an interesting fight and a fight he should win if he keeps the fight standing on the feet and he is no slouch on the ground either. Regarding the UFC it just depends on what happens if Showtime doesn’t pick the option years it has on Strikeforce and Showtime has until next month to decide that. If Showtime doesn’t pick up the options, he would be a good fit in the UFC and he will be put up against top guys as he is one of the top LHW in the world

You really think Mo is going to kick the crap out of him?? Mo takes it to the ground he’s in a bit of a different situation than he was with Mousasi. Roger has some of the best jiu jitsu in the game right now.

I can assure you that Roger was injured. I train with him in London and he missed out on a lot of training with the injury. He also had to miss the BJJ Worlds because he was unable to train for quite sometime.
The seminars are booked very far in advance, and given his condition I think he should be applauded for not letting people down.

As for what he does with King Mo? Well you just wait and see. He’ll be the next contender at Light Heavyweight, that’s for sure.
