Kauai Knockout Championship

|

For a pretty small island, Kauai gets more than its fair share of MMA action. It’s been a little over a month since the last cage fights on Kauai, and another one sits on the horizon just about a week away.

The Kauai Knockout Championship, otherwise known as KKC, is the other MMA promotion that helps Kauai fighters gain experience and exposure. It also provides Kauai fight fans with another venue to support their local fighters without having to travel to Oahu to see action packed fights.

KKC is the newer of the two amateur fight promotions on Kauai. It was started in 2009 by Kipi Akana, owner of Knockout Hawaii, and John Rivera owner of Torch Light Productions.   With only two fight promotions per year, KKC averages about 30 Kauai amateurs per event. They currently have approximately 20 Kauai fighters on the KKC 4 card, with the rest being held over for their next event sometime at the end of the year.

The next fight card, KKC 4, will be held next Saturday, March 31st at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. With three amateur belts on the line, this stacked card with fighters from Kauai and the neighbor islands should not disappoint. MMASucka will be ringside at the event posting live updates and will be featuring some of the up and coming fighters in the weeks to come. Stay tuned!
