Dominick Cruz injured, Urijah Faber without opponent for UFC 148

Word spread quickly this morning when it was rumored that Dominick Cruz had been forced to withdraw from his UFC 148 bout with Urijah Faber due to injury. Rumors fell to rest and the truth was finally let out when UFC President Dana White sent out this tweet.

The two were expected to be the main event fight at UFC 148 when it was first announced. The UFC then had to make a few adjustments to the card and placed their fight in the co-main event slot as Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen 2 was now the main event fight.

Cruz and Faber are the two coaches going head to head weekly on this seasons The Ultimate Fighter Live show on FX and were expected to face-off when the season concluded.

No word as to who Cruz’s replacement will be in his fight against Faber.
