Both the Lightweight and Flyweight straps will hang in the balance, when the Guam-based Pacific Xtreme Combat MMA promotion heads to the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, on September 1st.

In the Main Event, reigning 155-lbs champion Harris Sarmiento (34-23) will be defending his belt against unbeaten 27-year-old prospect, Jon Tuck.

Sarmiento is a veteran of over 55 professional fights, and has faced a who’s who of MMA superstars including Nick Diaz, Roger Huerta, KJ Noons, Gilbert Melendez and Josh Thompson. The 28-year-old American needs no introductions to the MMA scene, having competed in a myriad of promotions, including Strikeforce. Sarmiento is 3-2 in his past 5 fights, and holds victories over Richie Whitson and TUF 13 winner Jonathan Brookins, in his MMA career thus far.

Jon Tuck, on the other hand, would perhaps be best remembered for a broken toe that he suffered when he fought eventual-finalist Al Iaquinta, in the entry rounds of The Ultimate Fighter: Live. The 27-year-old was 6-0 in his career before the set-back and is the only man, to date might I add, to have ever finished ONE FC Superstar, Eduard Folayang. Tuck last faced Tristan Arenal at PXC 28, and ended the fight in the 1st round by KO. Tuck has also finished all of his 6 professional bouts thus far.

The PXC’s Flyweight title will also be on the line, as the co-Main Event pits Ale Cali (4-1) and Erwin Tagle (1-1-2).

The latter has not fought in professional MMA for over 6 years, with his last fight taking place at URCC 8 – Undisputed. Following a submission loss to Myles Vives back in 2003, Tagle is 1-0-2 in his past 3 fights.

Ale Cali, in the meantime, has been on a tear lately with a 4-fight winning streak in his pocket. The reigning Flyweight Champion and 3x-PXC veteran last faced Jesse Taitano in February of this year, where he won the fight after the referee was forced to intervene.

Stay tuned for more fight announcements in the near future.
