Evolve MMA to take center stage at ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings

|

Evolve MMA, one of the region’s most prominent band of MMA academies, had a disenchanted outing at ONE Fighting Championship’s recent ‘Pride of a Nation’ event that went down on August 31st at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Manilla, Philippines.

Mitch Chilson and Rodrigo Ribeiro were the only representatives of the gym at the event, and neither fighters were able to scoop victories on the night. The former’s fight with Shannon Wiratchai was ruled a No-Contest, while the latter was TKO’ed by former UFC veteran Phil Baroni in the first round.

Chatri Sityodtong, the owner and founder of Evolve MMA, was undoubtedly left frustrated at the outcomes, but was optimistic about the Evolve Fight Team’s future.

“The thing that I love most about fighting is that it is the perfect analogy for life. Some days, you win. Some days, you lose. But no matter what, you must fight each and every day to become a better version of yourself,” he said on Facebook. “The Evolve Fight Team went 0-2 (The Wiratchai-Chilson bout was later ruled a No-Contest) tonight, but we will be back better, stronger, and faster on October 6 in Singapore at ONE FC: Rise of Kings!”

Headlined by a Superfight between Muayfit’s Arnaud Lepont and Evolve MMA’s Shinya Aoki, ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings is set to take place on October 6th at the Singapore Indoor Stadium situated in Singapore.

The event will also crown the organization’s first champions, across multiple divisions.

A host of Evolve MMA’s fighters are set to compete on the fight card, as Evolve looks to hit the ground running on all of its forthcoming MMA events.

Zorobabel Moreira (7-1), one of the most recognizable faces on the ONE FC roster, is set to make his 4th appearance in the ONE FC cage, following a TKO victory over former UFC Lightweight standout, Roger Huerta. The Brazilian is currently on a tear with a 5-fight winning streak in his pocket, and is considered as one of the region’s hottest MMA prospects.

Elsewhere, Leandro Issa (10-2) is also set to make his return to the promotion following a Decision win over Japanese superstar, Masakazu Imanari. With a resume that includes fights with the likes of Soo Chul Kim and Jiang Long Yun, Issa is unbeaten in his stint with the Singapore-based promotion thus far.

ONE FC 6: Rise of Kings is also set to feature 3 more fighters from Evolve MMA, in Brian Choi (3-1), Radeem Rahman and Mitch Chilson (3-1[1]).

While Choi’s promotional debut ended in a defeat to Arnaud Lepont, Radeem Rahman (1-0) marked his MMA debut with a TKO win over Susovan Ghosh at ONE FC: Champion vs. Champion.

Chilson, in the meantime, was left disappointed following a controversial stoppage by the referee in his recent tilt with Shannon Wiratchai (2-0[1]). The bout, however, was ruled a No-Contest a few days later, and a rematch is rumored to be on the works for October 6th.

When all is said and done, will Evolve MMA be able to keep its title as Asia’s Number 1 gym?
