Gray Maynard injured, Jim Miller steps in to take on Joe Lauzon at UFC 155

The year end UFC card has taken a hit.

UFC lightweight Gray Maynard has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 155 bout with Joe Lauzon due to injury. Stepping in for him is lightweight standout, Jim Miller.

UFC officials announced the injury and the replacement fighter on Wednesday afternoon.

Miller (21-4) is coming off a loss to Nate Diaz back in May at UFC on FOX 3. He was on the brink of title contention until he was derailed by Benson Henderson back in August of 2011. He then went on to defeat Melvin Guillard on FX in January 2012. A win over Lauzon will get Miller right back on track.

Lauzon (22-7) defeated Jamie Varner by a slick triangle choke at UFC on FOX 4 in August. He was also very close to a title shot, before losing to Anthony Pettis back in February. The Massachusetts based fighter will look to crawl back into contention with a win over Miller.

UFC 155 is set to go down on December 29 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the card is Junior dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez for the UFC Heavyweight Championship.
