McGee out works Neer to win 170 debut

|

The fight started with the veteran Josh Neer being the aggressor and moving forward. With the forward movement of Neer, McGee started to do a lot of countering which lead to a lot punches being eaten by the face of Neer. After a kick to the body of Neer towards the end of the first round, McGee started to pour it on the “Dentist” with punches to the head and body coming close to finishing the fight in the first round.

In round 2, McGee came out a little more aggressive knowing Neer was hurt from that body kick. Around the two-minute mark, Neer started to regain his composure and  landed some big power shots on McGee while continuing to move forward. The round ends with a slow spin kick from McGee and could have gone to either fighter.

With a brief start on the feet, McGee went to his grappling game to try and seal this fight in his favor. With some clinching and a eventual take down, McGee landed some nice elbows from the top and even had Neer’s back at one point. McGee ended the third round on top in guard landing some punches. This one goes to the cards with the former TUF winner McGee coming out on top 30-27 all three times in his welterweight debut.
