Bellator 93 goes down tonight from Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine headlined by the finals of last season’s lightweight tournament with Dave Jansen meeting Marcin Held, winner earning a date with champion Michael Chandler.

Marcus Davis vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf

Round one:

A tentative start from these two, a lot of respect being shown. Davis hits with a kick to the chest, Spiritwolf answers with a low leg kick. Davis is the aggressor, hunting with his jab but not a lot of action in the opening two minutes. Spiritworlf charges forward for a takedown, Davis keeping upright due to the fence and locking in a guillotine-choke but doesn’t get it. The UFC vet hits with a counter left-hand, Spiritworlf charges with a flurry. Spiritwolf tags Davis who clinches up with his adversary, throw a knee to the groin and the fight is paused by referee Kevin McDonald. The crowd doesn’t agree that it connected, chanting “Bullshit!” towards the Native American that is wincing in pain. Spiritwolf is unable to get back to his feet after the five minutes, stopping the fight.

Ryan Martinez vs. Travis Wiuff

Round one:

Martinez tags Wiuff right away, charges forward with a flurry and puts his lights out.

Dave Jansen vs. Marcin Held

Round one:

Held takes a leg kick, moves forward and hits with his jab. The youngster is the aggressor, moving forward and tagging Jansen before looking for the first takedown of the fight. Jansen attempts a guillotine-choke but Held pops his head free, turns the tables and pushes Held against the fence. Jansen scores with a double-jab, catches Held with a counter that snaps his head back. Held counters an aggressive Jansen twice before staggering backwards after a hook from the more experienced fighter. Held pushes Jansen against the fence, tags Jansen on the separation. Jansen scores with a leg kick, followed by a knee. Jansen drives another knee to the leg, pushes Held against the cage as each battle for position. They separate but nothing happens as the round closes, 10-9 Held.

Round two:

Held avoids a shot from Jansen and drives him to the  canvas, passing his guard to get to side control. Scrambling ensues, landing in full-guard of Jansen. The more experienced fighter is active from his back, working to get back up. Jansen attempts a d’arce choke, Held gets out and attempts a heel hook, Jansen counters and starts landing punches to break free from the shot as Held tries for a toe hold, not giving up at his signature hold. Jansen escapes, moving over to mount on Held. Jansen lands shots on the mat, Held attempting an armbar but no success. The leglock artist goes back for another leg but Jansen avoids it. Jansen attempts to pull his leg free but doesn’t get it, Jansen starts unloading with punches, tagging  Held several times. Elbows from the American, Held again goes for the leg, trying a kneebar but eating punches again as the round expires, 10-9 Jansen.

Round three:

 Jansen tags Held early, the rookie from Poland looking tired. Jansen steps forward connects with his inside kick and left-hand. Getting in tight and connecting with his left-hook with no issue, that last round took a lot out of Held. The Polish fighter catches a leg and puts him down but Jansen gets to his feet immediately. Jansen hits a body shot, Held attempting a takedown but flops to the mat, his opponent falling on top of him. In side control, Jansen hits elbows to the ribcage, Held positioning for an armbar, transitioning to omoplata. He breaks free as Held tries for a toe hold, transitions to an inverted heel hook. Jansen connects with the elbow, Held is taking a lot of damage to attempt these leg attacks. Jansen breaks free, back into his guard. Jansen stands upright, bombs down with punches, Held tries another armbar but the time runs out, 10-9 Jansen (29-28 Jansen)
