Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson targeted for UFC on FS1 1 event

|

A lightweight fight is being targeted for the inaugural UFC on FOX Sports 1 event, as Joe Lauzon is planned to meet Michael Johnson.

Numerous sources close to the event have confirmed this information, with MMA Weekly dropping the news.

Lauzon (22-8) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jim Miller at UFC 155 in what many called a “Fight of the Year” candidate. The bloody fight won “Fight of the Night” honors and was Lauzon’s second straight “Fight of the Night” bonus.

The Boston native will look to get back in the win column in front of his hometown crowd at UFC on FOX 1 1.

Johnson (12-8) is on a two fight losing streak; in his last outing he was submitted by Reza Madadi and prior to that he fell short on the judges scorecards to Myles Jury.

After losing in the TUF 12 Finale, Johnson has gone 4-3.

UFC on Fox Sports 1 is expected to take place at the TD Gardens in Boston, Mass. On August 17. No main event has been set for the Fox 1 card, however UFC President Dana White has stated that it will be the best free card on network television.
