|

UFC middleweight Ronny Markes (14-1) was injured in a car accident earlier today in Brazil, MMAFighting.com is reporting.

According to UFC President Dana White, Markes – who was scheduled to fight Derek Brunson at tomorrow’s UFC on Fuel 10 card – suffered a concussion, as well as neck and back injuries, in the accident. He has cancelled the fight, leaving the UFC on Fuel 10 card with 12 fights. White also confirmed that both Markes and Brunson will be getting paid their show money.

We here at MMASucka would like to wish Ronny Markes a swift and full recovery from his injuries.

UFC on Fuel 10 is scheduled to go down on Saturday, June 8th at the Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. The main event is a heavyweight rematch between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum. Stay tuned to MMASucka for more on this and other upcoming cards!
