Upcoming Asian MMA events to keep an eye out for

MMA is an evolutionary sport and it has certainly grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years. With the emergence of ONE Fighting Championship and many other regional Mixed Martial Arts promotions, the sport has become a spectacle in these parts, taking the Asian countries by storm to a great extent.

Here’s a list of notable Asian MMA events that may peak your interest over the course of the next 2 months or so:

1. King of the Cage: Worldwide

  • Where: Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City, Philippines
  • When: July 5th

King of the Cage is one the most prominent Mixed Martial Arts organizations in the world, and it will be hosting its first event in the Philippines on July 5th. Rising Lightweight contender Lowen Tynanes (5-0) has been slated to defend his Junior Welterweight crown for the first time, against veteran Joe Condon (9-5). The promotion’s 185-lbs title will also be up for grabs as Yusuke Sakashita (9-3) contests the undefeated Sean ‘Tarzan’ Strickland (11-0) in an exciting tilt.

2. Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA) Grand Finals 

  • Where: Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • When: June 15th

MIMMA is the biggest Amateur fight league ever assembled in the Asian region, and on June 15th, the organization will be providing a star-studded Amateur fight card that’s filled with 7 championship bouts, along with 3 professional MMA fights that will headline the event altogether. MIMMA has made waves across the Mixed Martial Arts scene following its inception 6 months ago, even garnering a broadcast deal with StarSports. A key partner to ONE Fighting Championship’s talent recruiting network, MIMMA has shown all the tools and assets in developing the very best Mixed Martial Artists in Asia.

3. Deep Cage Impact 2013

  • Where: Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
  • When: June 15th

DEEP is one of the world’s longest running Mixed Martial Arts promotions and has produced some of the finest Japanese fighters the industry has ever seen. Furthermore, it’s no secret that DEEP has always been omnipresent in showcasing Mixed Martial Arts fights to fans in Japan. This weekend, a stacked 15-bout fight card has been lined up that features some household names in the likes of Masakazu Imanari, Kazunori Yokota and many others.

4. ROAD FC 012

  • Where: Chiak Stadium, Wonju, South Korea
  • When: June 22nd

ROAD Fighting Championship has already established itself as one of the front-runners in Asian MMA and its 12th event is set to take place on June 22nd in Wonju, South Korea. Along with the conclusion of the promotion’s inaugural Bantamweight Grand Prix, former Legend FC title-holder Bae Myung Ho will be taking on Vitor Belfort protege, Andrews Nakahara. The fight card will also see former UFC veteran Michihiro Omigawa make his promotional debut against one of South Korea’s finest MMA prospects in Bae Yong Kwon.
