Mark ‘Mugen’ Striegl is set to return to Mixed Martial Arts action on September 14th as the Pacific X-Treme Combat hosts its 39th installment at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Baguio City, Philippines. Striegl is set to fight for the Featherweight belt in the main event, opposite his South Korean opponent, Jang Yong Kim (6-5-1).
Striegl vs. Kim for 145-lbs title headlines September’s PXC 39
Kim defeated Nate Thorell at PXC 37 en route to earning his title shot. The 29-year-old Korean Top Team native boasts an impressive 5-1 record under the PXC banner, with that lone defeat coming at the hands of current Bellator MMA fighter, Joe Taimanglo.
Striegl, 25, in the meantime, is one of Asia’s best Mixed Martial Artists who holds an undefeated resume of 12-0. With wins over the likes of Yusuke Kawanago, Bae Young Kwon, Crisanto Pitpitunge and Harris Sarmiento, Striegl will be the favorite entering this match-up and in pole position to claim PXC’s 145-lbs strap.
The stacked fight card will also feature King of Pancrase Takumi Nakayama (18-13-6, 1 NC). The Japanese veteran has been booked in a Featherweight tilt with former UFC and “TUF 8” competitor, Shane Nelson (15-7).
Elsewhere, Legacy Gym’s Zebaztian Kadestam (4-0) will be in action as well, as he looks set to face his toughest challenge to date when he squares off against BJ Penn protege, Ross Ebanez (20-8, 3 NC). Ebanez will be making his promotional debut after fighting in a myriad of organizations across the globe, most notably including DREAM, Elite XC and Spirit MC.
