Will Chope: “PXC is a proven route to the UFC”

|

And that’s not an understatement.

Jon Tuck, Dustin Kimura and Lim Hyun Gyu are all former staples of the Pacific X-Treme Combat, who are now applying their trade in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Joe Taimanglo, a former title-holder in the promotion, is now 2-0 under the Bellator MMA banner.

Will Chope: “PXC is a proven route to the UFC”

And well, Will Chope (18-5) hopes to follow in their footsteps one day.

The 23-year-old recently inked a deal with the PXC, which forced him to vacate his URCC Interim Featherweight title.

But that’s probably a decision he’s not going to regret anytime soon.

“My goal is to get into the UFC. The URCC is not the road that can take me there at this point, ” he said on Twitter. “The PXC is a proven route that other fighters have used to get there and it will get me there as well.”

“So this is what I am doing; I will fight for the PXC, win, and wait for that call.”

Chope wasn’t the only signing that was announced by the promotion yesterday. PXC also snapped up the likes of “The Ultimate Fighter” alumni Shane Nelson, and former UFC vet Keita Nakamura among others.

But the pick of the lot was definitely the capture of Chope, who has established himself as one of the top 145-lbs fighters in the region.

The American is set to face former King of Pancrase Takumi Nakayama in his promotional debut at PXC 40, in his bid to get a shot at the world’s famous octagon.
