Joey Beltran released from the UFC

|

Light heavyweight fighter Joey Beltran announced on Wednesday that he had been released from the UFC.

Joey Beltran released from the UFC

Beltran (14-9 1NC) made his UFC debut in 2010 at UFC 109 where he defeated Rolles Gracie Jr. by second round TKO. He went on to win his next fight at UFC 113 against Tim Hague, but unfortunately lost his next two bouts to Matt Mitrione and Pat Berry.

“The Mexecutioner” won his next outing by TKO against Aaron Rosa at UFC 131. Again he lost his next two to Stipe Miocic and Lavar Johnson, which forced him out of the organization at the time.

After picking up a win over Anton Talamantes in a regional show, he was picked back up by the big show as a replacement for Brandon Vera against James Te Huna at UFC on FUEL TV 4. The fight between Beltran and Te Huna won ‘Fight of the Night’, but he lost by decision. Beltran defeated Igor Pokrajac in his next fight, but the bout was overturned to a ‘no-contest’ because he failed a post-fight drug test for nandrolone.

Most recently Beltran stepped inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 29 against Fábio Maldonado and lost a split decision.

No word as to where Beltran will end up next, but we will keep you informed as the news arises.
