BRACE 24 line-up finalized, Standing vs. Nguyen serves as headliner

|

On November 29, Australia-based BRACE hosts its 24th event in Australia’s capital city of Canberra, at the AIS Arena bringing a headlining Featherweight title bout that’s set to have fight fans on the edge of their seats.

Two undefeated fighters in Luke Standing and Martin Nguyen will lock horns in view of claiming the promotion’s Featherweight title.

BRACE 24 line-up finalized, Standing vs. Nguyen serves as headliner

According to BRACE, Luke Standing (5-0) hails from Sydney and has been in line for the belt for some time now. He contests fellow Sydney compatriot and unbeaten foe, Martin Nguyen (6-0). Both fighters have fought in Canberra in exciting fights and Standing calls Canberra his lucky city.

The war of words between the two has been slowly building up, and tension is certainly rising. Both fighters first met and faced off for the very first time back at BRACE 22 in Sydney, and back then, there was an intriguing perception that this bout was going to be a war.

“I have never been more excited for a fight, these two are the very best at what they do,” BRACE CEO Kya Pate commented. “They are both, young, hungry and have amazing skills, this is my fight of the year. Bring It.”

With an impressive wrestling background, Martin Nguyen will be looking to put Standing on his back and try to finish the fight with ground-and-pound, a feat that was evident in his victory over the formidable Thomas Ruderman at BRACE 18. It’d be criminal to count Nguyen out once he gets his opponent in his favorite spot.

But that strategy could fall right into the hands of Luke Standing, who’s an exceptional grappler in his own right. In fact, majority of Standing’s victories have come from working off his back so stylistically, this will be a difficult outing for both combatants.

The two possess good striking credentials as well with Standing being a former amateur boxer, and Nguyen always impressing with his kicking prowess.

BRACE CEO Kya Pate added,”We recently staged an event in October at the Townsville Entertainment Centre and had fans tuning in from every continent of the planet! The eyes of the world will be watching this title fight and we are happy to be showing what Aussie MMA has to offer.”

The rest of the fight card will feature some notable talents too. Jacob Pettett (5-7) takes on Canadian Kevin Manderson (16-14-1) at Lightweight in a clash of two vets. Both fighters are coming off losses in their previous bouts and they’ll be looking to get back in the win column once again.

With JJ Van Aswegen (2-0) forced to pull out of his Featherweight match-up against Jeshua McPhail (1-0), officials have immediately sought a new replacement. Englishman Adam Corbett (0-5) is now set to fight McPhail in what will be his sixth appearance of the calendar year.

Check out the rest of the fight card below. Unlike previous events, however, a LIVE stream will not be provided this time around.
