Dustin Poirier wants redemption against Cub Swanson

At UFC 168 featherweight Dustin Poirier proved he was still a force to be reckoned with in the 145-pound division. He kicked off the main PPV portion of the fight card and took it to Diego Brandao.

The Brazilian, who came in 7-pounds over weight came out swinging for the fences, while Poirier kept it cool. He was able to get Brandao up against the cage and finish him with strikes in the very first round.

Following the fight, many speculated who could be next for Poirier and he gave his preference at the post-fight press conference.

With the Zombie, I was 100 percent prepared for that fight. I showed up to fight that night and he actually beat me. But with Cub I beat myself. I took the fight on short notice. I cut 30 pounds in a week. I took the fight because I got the call and I’m a fighter, but Cub Swanson didn’t beat me that night, I beat myself.

Poirier and Swanson first fought at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in February and “The Diamond” came up short on the judges scorecards. He took the fight on short notice, and as he said above cut 30-pounds in one week. Poirier feels he deserves a full fight camp and a rematch with Swanson.

I feel like I deserve to be 100 percent and fight him.
