ESPN.com confirmed the news during the UFC 169 broadcast on Saturday evening.

Weidman (11-0) defeated longtime middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva at UFC 162 to become the champ and defended it against him again at UFC 168 in December. The New York native checked a leg kick in the second round which broke Silva’s leg and forced the finish of the fight.

Belfort (24-10) is riding a three-fight winning streak, with all three victories coming via knockout. Most recently, Belfort knocked out Dan Henderson just one-minute in to the very first round of their UFC Fight Night 32 match-up. “The Phenom’s” last loss came to Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones at UFC 152 in late 2012.

UFC 172 takes place on Memorial Day long weekend from Las Vegas, Nevada.
