In the second fight of the night, Michel Prazeres and Mairbek Taisumov put their immaculate MMA records on the line in a tough bout for both men. Prazeres took a 17-1 record into this fight, while Taisumov is 21-4. Both have fought in the UFC before but have very little experience at this level. In his debut fight, Prazeres took on a tough challenge in Paulo Tiago, and he lost the fight via decision.

In a very eventful first round, Prazeres and Taisumov showed solid versatility. They had some good strikes but it was Prazeres’ takedowns that dictated the fight. Getting frustrated with the attempts, Taisumov was warned on several occasions to not grab the fence. After repeatedly ignoring the warnings, referee Mario Yamasaki deducted a point from the Russian.

In the second round, Prazeres landed some very damaging blows and continued to show his all-around ability. Surprisingly, Taisumov, though deducted a point in the first round, continued to grab the fence and was deducted another point in the second round. With that said, this was another clear round for Prazeres.

In the third round, Prazeres continued with an edge in the fight and seemed to be the better fighter throughout the bout. In another ridiculous move, Taisumov grabbed the fence and was threatened with a disqualification the next time he commits the offence. In another great display of ground game, Prazeres was able to get into mount till the last minute of the fight and was able to win the bout via unanimous decision.

Prazeres has good size and demonstrated solid versatility. He is not 2-1 in the UFC with a very respectable loss against Paulo Tiago. It will be interesting to see who he gets pitted against next.
