Stefan Struve returns to take on Matt Mitrione at UFC 175

|

It’s been a long road back to the UFC for Stefan Struve, but a return bout is finally set. The UFC’s tallest fighter will step back into the Octagon on July 5th opposite Matt Mitrione at UFC 175.

Thomas Gerbasi made the announcement on UFC.com earlier today.

2013 was not kind to the man known as “Skyscraper” (25-6), as he lost his only bout that year in devastating fashion to Mark Hunt before being diagnosed with a heart condition that had the potential to end his career. Thankfully, the lanky Dutchman responded to treatment and has been cleared to return. Will it be a success?

The whitest of the Blackzillians, known to many as “Meathead,” Mitrione (7-3) is coming off 1st round KO over the lesser of the Jackson’s MMA prospects, Shawn Jordan at the TUF: China Finale. After going 1-1 in 2013, the TUF veteran will be looking to make 2014 more consistent. Will he continue his winning ways?

UFC 175 goes down July 5th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV as part of International Fight Week. The main event is a UFC Middleweight Title bout pitting only man to beat Anderson Silva twice, champion Chris Weidman, against former UFC Light Heavyweight champ, the ever elusive Lyoto Machida.
