Urijah Faber takes on Masenori Kanehara at UFC Fight Night 52 in Japan

|

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber will fly to the land of the rising sun to take on Masenori Kanehara at UFC Fight Night 52 in September.

The match-up was first announced by fightsportasia.com, however no official announcement from the UFC yet.

Faber (31-7) has yet to lose a non-title fight in his 38-career bouts and most recently tapped out Alex Caceres with a rear-naked choke in the third round to continue that streak. Prior to that victory, the Team Alpha Male fighter lost by first round TKO to Renan Barao at UFC 169 for the Bantamweight Championship.

Kanehara (21-11-5) will make his debut in front of his home country. In his last outing Kanehara lost to Toshiaki Kitada at DEEP: 66 when he threw him from the ring and was disqualified. Prior to that DQ loss, the 31-year-old was riding a six-fight winning streak.

There is no word as to where the Faber vs. Kanehara bout will take place on the UFC Fight Night 52 fight card.

UFC Fight Night 52 goes down September 21 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Headlining the event is a heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson.
