Rising heavyweights Rosholt and Oliynyk set to do battle in Austin

|

UFC Fight Night 57 gets it’s fifth fight in the form of NCAA wrestler Jared Rosholt vs. submission specialist Oleksiy Oliynyk.

Rosholt (11-1) has won seven straight, and three since joining the UFC in late 2013. He started his career off 4-0 which would get him a Legacy FC heavyweight title shot in his promotional debut. Unfortunately he would get knocked out by Derrick Lewis with 20 seconds left in round 2. Since then he is perfect. With three wins inside the octagon, he is coming off of what is by far the biggest victory of his career when he defeated Soa Palelei via unanimous decision in a very pro-Soa New Zealand.

Oliynyk (49-9-1) may be 37 years old, but calling this submission specialist a “rising heavyweight” isn’t an exaggeration. He made his UFC debut late in his career against Anthony Hamilton in June of 2014 and passed the test with flying colors. He showed off his incredible submissions just over two minutes into the fight as he submitted Hamilton with a scarf hold headlock. This may have been his UFC debut, but this M-1 veteran didn’t exactly have an easy go outside of the promotion. Before entering the UFC he had wins over Mirko Cro Cop, Jeff Monson, Thiago Santos, Mike Hayes, Adlan Amagov and Karol Bedorf. He is now getting his second opportunity on the worlds biggest stage against what is indeed a step-up in opposition for him in comparison to his last outing.

This bouts placement on the card is unknown at this time.

UFC Fight Night 57 is expected to take place on November 22 in Austin, Texas at the Frank Erwin Center.
