Following Ronda Rousey’s record-breaking night at UFC 184, many fans and media were likening her to a modern-day Mike Tyson. Rousey defeated Cat Zingano just 14-seconds into the very first round to retain her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. It wasn’t just Tyson that was being spoken about, but talk moved to how well she’d do against similarly-sized members of the opposite sex.

Those words didn’t fare too well with UFC flyweight Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall. In a video interview with Rick Lee, McCall said the following:

“A good man will not lose to Ronda Rousey,” said McCall. “I could put a judo gi on, [she’s] an Olympian. You’re not throwing me. It’s not going to happen. I will throw you on your head. Pretty simple. And you weigh more than me.

“I can’t compartmentalize it. It doesn’t make sense to me. I know it’s all talk. They compare her to [former heavyweight boxer Mike] Tyson. She’s dangerous, she’s good. I get it, but it’s just silly.”

Rousey’s mom, Dr. AnnMaria De Mars didn’t take to these comments lightly. She feels the way he’s looking at it isn’t the way most ‘real men’ would be.

“I think that they are just trying to get attention,” De Mars told MMASucka.com. “Basically what he’s saying is, I can beat up a girl. Which is not too impressive to most real men. So I’ll say the same thing that my husband said when someone asked him, if he felt like less of a man because he was married to a woman who could beat him up, he said if I ever had the need to feel like a man I would go get naked and look down and then I would feel like a man. So I would recommend that’s what Ian McCall do.”

Another fighter who has been beefing not only with Rousey, but with her mother as well, is Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. After the fight, Justino and De Mars went back and forth on Twitter.

“I thought… what an idiot,” said De Mars. “People made such a big deal about it, I said six words and went back to work. I got shit to do. I’m sure someone else runs her Twitter. Incidentally, Ronda does post all of her own stuff, that’s why you don’t see it very often.”
