Luke Rockhold will get next middleweight title shot

On Wednesday night’s edition of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1, UFC President Dana White announced that Luke Rockhold will be the next challenger for Chris Weidman’s middleweight championship.

Rockhold (14-2) lost his UFC debut against Vitor Belfort, however has since gone on a four-fight winning streak. His most recent victoy, was a one sided beat down against former champion Lyoto Machida.

Weidman (13-0) has proved his worth in the 185-pound division, over and over now. At UFC 187, Weidman defeated Belfort in the very first round, which marked his third title defense.

No date or venue has been set for the event, however Weidman has been eyeing the end of the year in New York City for as long as there have been talks about it.
