Jury out; Paul Felder, Edson Barboza agree to fight in Chicago

|

First Pettis, now Jury, but have no fear. The always exciting Paul Felder will step in for Jury to face Edson Barboza at UFC on FOX 16 in what is sure to be a very fun stand-up affair.

MMASucka.com learned from sources close to the bout that the two exciting lightweights have verbally agreed to the fight.

Felder (10-0) is 2-0 since joining the UFC in late 2014. In his debut, he beat Canada’s own Jason Saggo in Nova Scotia in what was a rather forgettable fight, as Felder took home the split decision victory. He more than made up for it though, as he went on to face Danny Castillo at UFC 182, replacing Rustam Khabilov. Felder won the fight in round two with a vicious spinning back-fist. He took home a Performance of the Night bonus. Felder is also a former CFFC lightweight champion.

Barboza (15-3) most recently dropped a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 61 in February. Prior to this he had two wins in a row, including an impressive TKO stoppage of long-time UFC lightweight Evan Dunham, as well as a unanimous decision victory over the surging Bobby Green. A fan, and possibly very relevant statistic, in Barboza’s twelve fight UFC-run (9-3), he has never lost back-to-back fights. He’ll look to continue that trend here.

This bout is expected to take on the main card portion of UFC on FOX 16.

UFC on FOX 16 is expected to take place on July 25 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. In the main event Renan Barao will take on champ TJ Dillashaw in an attempt to re-claim the gold, and two top women’s bantamweight contenders meet as Miesha Tate battles Jessica ‘Evil’ Eye in a potential #1 contenders match-up.
