This season of The Ultimate Fighter has Irish bad boy Conor McGregor coaching alongside Team Alpha Male spearhead and rival Urijah Faber. The two are not scheduled to fight at the conclusion of the season, as McGregor will take on Aldo at UFC 194 and Faber is set to take on Frankie Saenz on that very same card.

However, on this past week’s episode of Bruce Buffer’s ‘It’s Time’ podcast, Faber hinted that he feels in his ‘gut’ that he will get a crack at the Irishman.

“You know, I think I probably will — that’s just my gut,” said Faber. “I can definitely say that after the show, I’m hoping that the fight will happen. Not because I dislike Conor, he does have a mouth and he can talk it up, but I’m about having the fights that matter — the big fights and that’s a big fight.”

With all the bad blood between McGregor and Faber’s Alpha Male teammate Chad Mendes you’d think the two would hate each other. Funny enough, they get along pretty well.

“There’s a lot of banter back and forth, talking back and forth between the two of us, but I’m hoping there’s a fight at some point. I think the banter back and forth was better than a lot of the other stuff in the show. I wouldn’t say that we’re best of friends, but we got along ok.”

You can catch the banter between Faber and McGregor all season long on The Ultimate Fighter, which airs on Wednesday evening’s at 7pm PT/10pm ET on FOX Sports 1 (TSN in Canada.)
