The news came on Tuesday from UFC President Dana White, according to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

With the cancellation of the heavyweight main event, UFC 196 will now be headlined by welterweights Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson.

A number of fighters requested to take on Miocic in the main event including UFC on FOX 18 fighters Josh Barnett and Ben Rothwell, as well as former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

UFC 196 goes down on February 6 from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. Also on the main card are Roy Nelson vs. Jared Rosholt, Rafael Cavalcante vs. Ovince Saint Preux and Joseph Benavidez vs. Zach Makovsky.
