The Eddie Bravo Invitational 18, EBI 18, is set to take place Sunday, December 09, 2018. EBI 18 will occur inside the Onnit Academy located in Austin, Texas. The event can be seen on Pay-Per-View through www.ebiofficial.com or watch on UFC Fight Pass at 8:00 pm EST/7: 00 pm CST. The crowning of a strawweight queen will take place. One of those competitors set with their sites on the title is the 10th Planet Boulder purple belt, Fabiana Jorge.

The Winding Path to Jiu-Jitsu

Everyone in the world of Jiu-Jitsu has a story. Like many, Fabiana’s twists and turns of life led her here. “I first started doing striking and got into MMA,” Fabiana told MMA Sucka. “With prior brain damage from a motorcycle accident, I decided sticking with jiu-jitsu only,” Fabiana told MMA Sucka. Fabiana currently owns a purple belt and will represent 10th Planet Boulder, Colorado on Sunday, December 09, 2018.

Learning the Art

“I credit my coaches and friends for getting me to where I am today mentally and physically. I have several coaches with 10th Planet that have helped me along the way but the main ones are Drew Ash (10th Planet Boulder) and Scott Epstein (10th Planet West LA), Fabiana stated. Ash has been training BJJ and submission wrestling for over 13 years and is a 10th Planet brown belt under founder Eddie Bravo. Epstein is well-renowned in the world of BJJ as he is one of two-second degree 10th Planet black belts. He also has almost 20 years experience with three MMA bouts, all three submission victories. Epstein also served as the Chuck Liddell’s jiu-jitsu and strength coach on season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter.

“I also couldn’t have done it without my strength and conditioning coaches from Bella Strength in Boulder, Colorado,” Fabiana told MMA Sucka. “Mentally I have made some huge strides in the last two months and I credit that in part to my coaches but also a few vital friends that helped guide me.” Fabiana also wanted to credit Brandon McCaghren of 10th Planet Decatur who has also been very instrumental in her growth.
