This is the latest in my What To Watch For series and this time I’m covering Mamba Fight Night. Mamba Fight Night 8 goes on Friday, January 31st. It’s a card filled with professional and amateur MMA bouts as well as multiple amateur kickboxing fights. There is a myriad of great, largely unheralded/ yet undiscovered prospects from all across North America with bantamweight attractions all the way up to heavyweight throwdowns. It all goes down at Gradvilla Casino in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Mamba Fight Night 8

Gagan Gill vs Grant Gorsegner will fight each other in a pro lightweight bout that tops the marquee. Gill has four straight choke-based wins dating back to his amateur days. He is a BFL veteran but is unbeaten under the Mamba Fight Night banner going 2-0 as both an ammy and a Pro.

Both men are looking to rebound from defeat. Gill lost a unanimous decision to Lucas Neufeld at Fight Night 9. Gorsegner was stopped by strikes 16 seconds in the first round by Josh Kwiatkowski at Rise FC 4. On paper, this fight seems to boil down to Gorsegner’s pace and Gill’s submission grappling aptitude.

Keanan Kellar vs Johnny James is a co-main event middleweight affair. Johnny James Jr is a product out of ATT Portland. Triple J is looking to utilize his grappling here and win on enemy territory. Kellar is making his pro debut at Mamba Fight Night 8 but has won an amateur bout at Mamba Fight Night 4. BFL and Fivestar Fight League vet as well. Those who are cognizant of these two men’s amateur careers are theorizing this could be the fight of the night. The professional records of these two are a bit deceptive.

lightweights to heavyweights

Austin Batra vs Clarence Brown is another professional bout at 155 lbs. Batra has a 1-1 record with Mamba Fight Night and is making his professional debut with the promotion. Brown was submitted in his last MMA bout when debuting for Combate Americas but won a Muay Thai bout earlier this month. Batra may have submitted to Sean Michaels in his last outing but Brown looks to play the role of heartbreak kid. The Texas native looks to silence the partisan crowd cheering Batra on.

Josh Morgan vs Mathieu Langlais is a pro heavyweight tilt that could prove to be one of the more intriguing fights on the card. Morgan is making his pro debut while Langlais is looking to rebound from defeat. Langlais has been plying his trade on the Quebec circuit fighting for TKO, LAMMQ, and Hybrid Pro Series. Both men scored rear-naked chokes wins the last time they tasted victory and boh have a crowd-pleasing, kill or be killed kind of fighting style.

Konstantin Gaivoronskii vs Gurpaul Sahota further underscores the pro lightweight them on the main card. Gaivoronskii is 3-0 as an amateur and all wins took place under the Mamba Fight Night banner. He makes his pro-MMA debut at Mamba Fight Night 8. Sahota’s 0-4 amateur record is deceptive as he had bouts with names like Ramil Kamilov, Jett Grande, and Chase Hooper. It will be an interesting 155 lb prizefight to kick off the pro portion of the card.
