MMASucka staff picks are already a twelfth of the way through in 2020. Crazy! Early tomorrow morning, January 31, will see ONE Championship: Fire & Fury go down from the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The event will begin at 4:30am ET (1:30am PT) on the ONE Super App and various social media platforms with the main card kicking off at 7:30am ET (4:30am PT) on Bleacher Report Live.

The Fights

Strawweight gold is on the line in the main event between current champion Joshua Pacio and challenger Alex Silva. After coming up short to Yoshitaka Naito for the belt in 2016, Philippines’ own Pacio would avenge the prior defeat two years later by unanimous decision. Yosuke Saruta would capture the belt right away in his next bout; however, he would avenge yet another opponent with a vicious fourth-round knockout last April. Pacio now looks to back up a recent title defense over Rene Catalan two months ago. His opponent, Silva, also comes as a former belt holder of the 125-pound division with his title win over the aforementioned Naito. This would be his lone peak as champ, suffering two losses to Naito and one to the also aforementioned Saruta. A successful rebound would cap off his 2019 with two second-round armbars over Jakarta’s Stefer Rahardian and former wrestling champion Xuewen Peng.

A thrilling co-main event is in store as Eduard Folayang and Pieter Buist are set to scrap in the lightweight division. Former champion Folayang hopes to find victory in front of his home-country crowd for the second time in two months while Buist looks for an eight straight win in his third ONE FC fight. Folayang was originally set to take on Ahmed Mujtaba until a withdrawal forced Mujtaba out for a third straight time with the promotion.
