Only a single card this weekend for our MMASucka staff picks. Tonight will see UFC Fight Night 167 go down from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The six-fight main card will begin at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT) on ESPN+.

The Fights

Light heavyweights meet in the main event between former opponents Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz. The two previously faced off over four years ago, Anderson taking the unanimous decision over Blachowicz at UFC 191. The past two years have been the best and most successful thus far of Anderson’s career, having racked up four straight victories over the best of the weight class. His most recent of those came in November, knocking out rising prospect Johnny Walker in the first round. An additional win would move TUF 19 winner Anderson into the title picture. His opponent, Blachowicz, has been equally impressive as of late. Six of his last seven fights have gone in his favor, the only loss since October of 2017 coming to Thiago Santos last February. Poland’s Blachowicz hopes to avenge his prior loss to Anderson while backing up his last win over fan-favorite veteran Jacare Souza.

A potential “Fight of the Night” sits in the co-main event at 170 pounds between veteran Diego Sanchez and flashy striker Michel Pereira. Sanchez looks to rebound after a July of last year loss to Michael Chiesa while Pereira aims to restart the hype train he once had at welterweight before dropping a decision to massive underdog Tristan Connelly in September.

Staff Picks

Throughout the year, staff picks will be composed of five different MMA promotions. UFCBellatorONE, and RIZIN all appeared for the 2019 season and will make returns. The newest addition for the 2020 year will see the PFL including their regular season, playoffs, and championship card. A special staff picks bonus will be introduced and discussed regarding PFL’s playoff format as time gets closer.

Main cards will makeup both UFC and Bellator picks, while the biggest fights to make up ONE, RIZIN, and PFL events will be used. The WINNER of staff picks will have a choice between receiving a championship belt from ProAmBelts or a championship chain from Championship Chains. The 2019 winner was awarded to Michael DeSantis, compiling a record of 321-178. Second-place Connor Deitrich collected a close score of 319-180 with third-place Ed Gallo not far behind totaling at 312-183.
