Unless you’ve been living under a rock since Fight Island 3, you’ll know that commentator Dan Hardy was extremely unhappy with two stoppages from referee Herb Dean. The occurrence happened in the Jai Herbert vs Francisco Trinaldo bout, where the Brazillian landed a vicious overhand left, knocking the Brit out and leaving him for the count. Dean failed to step in on this occasion, leading to Herbert receiving a number of unnecessary and unanswered shots.

We looked at a number of mistakes that Herb Dean has made and unfortunately they seem to occur too often. Refereeing is not an easy job, of course, but they are there to protect the fighters. When a fighter is taking a beating, the fight must be stopped, plain and simple. Dean took to Instagram to defend his actions post-fight.

Dan Hardy has responded to Herb Dean’s defence, stating that he must take accountability for his actions. Hardy posted a video on his Youtube account, Full Reptile highlighting a number of issues with Herb Dean’s refereeing in the past, breaking down poor stoppages. Using video evidence, Dan Hardy goes some way to explaining why the Herbert fight was a bad stoppage and when the fight should have been stopped, in his opinion.

If you want to catch the video, we highly recommend it. It is a brilliant breakdown and well worth a watch.
