Week three of the UFC‘s Fight Island is here with a bantamweight main event and we will have UFC Fight Night 179 results all night. In Saturday’s main event, former bantamweight title challenger Marlon Moraes takes on Cory Sandhagen. From 2017-2019, Moraes had gone on a four fight win streak after losing to Raphael Assuncao in his UFC debut. Over that span, he picked up three finishes with knockout wins over Aljamain Sterling and Jimmie Rivera. He also got his revenge over Assuncao as he submitted him in their rematch at UFC Fight Night 144. Moraes then earned a shot at the vacant bantamweight title as he faced Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 238. He would end up losing by third round TKO, but Moraes picked up a big decision win over former featherweight champion Jose Aldo in his last appearance. As for Sandhagen, he had put together a seven fight win streak from 2017-2019. During that time, he picked up notable wins over John Lineker and Raphael Assuncao. In his last outing, Sandhagen lost to Aljamain Sterling by first round submission at UFC 250.

Also, in the co-main event, Edson Barboza makes his second appearance of 2020 as he faces Makwan Amirkhani. Unfortunately for Barboza, he has not won a fight since 2018 when he faced Dan Hooker at UFC on Fox 31. Following the win over Hooker, Barboza got a main event fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC on ESPN 2. Gaethje would go on to finish Barboza that night in the first round as he began his run to the top. Six months later, Barboza faced off against Paul Felder, losing by split decision before dropping down to featherweight. In his 145-pound debut, Barboza would lose his third straight fight against Dan Ige at UFC on ESPN 8. As for his opponent, Amirkhani dropped a recent loss to Shane Burgos last year. Since then, he has picked up a submission win over Danny Henry at UFC 251.

Kicking off the main card will be a featherweight fight as Youseff Zalal faces off against Ilia Topuria. Zalal enters the fight on a four fight win streak while Topuria makes his UFC debut with a record of 8-0. Following that fight will be a heavyweight fight between Tom Aspinall and Alan Baudot. Aspinall recently picked up a big win on Fight Island while Baudot makes his debut at 8-1. The third fight on the main card will be a middleweight bout as Markus Perez takes on Dricus du Plessis. Perez is coming off a UD loss to Wellington Turman while Plessis makes his debut off a two fight win streak. Finally, before the co-main event will be another heavyweight bout as Ben Rothwell faces off against Marcin Tybura. Both fighters are coming off a two fight win streak as Rothwell recently defeated Ovince Saint Preux and Tybura recently defeated Maxim Grishin.
