ONE Championship closed out their “Inside The Matrix” series on Friday, November 20, in Singapore with a five-bout event that was pure action. ONE: Inside The Matrix IV delivered with all three mixed martial arts bouts ending via finish and two stellar ONE Super Series matches.
Aslanbek Zikreev edged out Wang “Golden Boy” Junguang by split decision in a three-round kickboxing affair in the main event. The catchweight contest saw the Russian grab his biggest win against the strawweight division’s #2-ranked contender.
Italy’s Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri took home a split decision nod over Rocky Ogden in a catchweight Muay Thai contest. The three-round battle was tightly contested, and saw Lasiri come on strong in the final round of an exciting match.
But if you were looking for finishes, then you needed to be tuned in from the start.
Maira Mazar finished South Korea’s Choi Jeong Yun in with a third-round TKO. The Brazilian strawweight picked up a significant victory as she hopes to become a top strawweight contender in 2021.
In featherweight action, Ryogo “Kaitai” Takahashi finished Yoon “The Big Heart” Chang Min in the second round with a beautiful combination just a little after the contest’s halfway point.
The victory gives Takahashi a lot of momentum in the division, with his only loss coming to the newly crowned World Champion, Thanh Le. Takahashi will not be far off from a potential rematch and would surely like an opportunity to get one back with the gold on the line.
Bantamweight finishers did not disappoint. Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci and Kwon “Pretty Boy” Won Il had the fast-paced barnburner many expected.
Pucci rushed out and began looking for a takedown, but the South Korean defended and got the separation he needed.
Once free from the Brazilian, Kwon dug a thudding left hook to the body followed by two hard right hands to stun Pucci. As he covered up, Kwon laced a slicing uppercut through his guard and put him out for the count.
