Uros Jurisic Set to Face Shamil Musaev at KSW 58

The newest addition to the KSW welterweight division, Uros Jurisic, has his first opponent lined up, and it’s at KSW 58 later this month.

Jurisic will make his organizational debut at KSW 58 on Saturday, January 30, 2021, against the undefeated lightweight Russian, Shamil Musaev. KSW 58 will air worldwide on the KSW app or on KSWTV.

KSW’s Newest Welterweight Uros Jurisic

After signing with KSW earlier this month in January 2021, Jurisic is already set for a top-tier clash at KSW 58. Entering the organization as a top title contender, Jurisic’s task will no doubt put him in line next for a shot at Roberto Soldic‘s welterweight crown. There has already been social media beef between the two already. Currently 11-0, Jurisic has most recently competed under the Titan FC and Bellator banners. The Slovenia fighter currently trains at American Top Team in Florida where he receives some of the best training in the world. It is also the home to former KSW middleweight champion, Scott Askham.

The 28-year-old Jurisic was formerly the Titan FC welterweight champion before joining Bellator for his October 2020 bout with Walter Gahadza at Bellator 247. Jurisic handled the veteran in the first round winning via rear-naked choke. It was a big win for Jurisic which put him squarely on the KSW radar. Titan FC was not Jurisic’s first taste of the big lights. He competed on the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter Season 21 which featured American Top Team versus The Blackzilians. With a win against a tough opponent in Musaev, Jurisic could find himself standing in front of Roberto Soldic next.

Russia’s Undefeated KSW Lightweight Shamil Musaev

It will be no easy welcoming bout for Jurisic as he will face Russia’s “The Silent Assassin” in Shamil Musaev. Currently 14-0, Musaev has spent his career at lightweight. It makes for an unusual paring because Musaev himself is staring at the top of the KSW’s lightweight division. If Musaev has decided to make the jump to the welterweight division, his current hot KSW run and a win over Jurisic would put him in line to meet Soldic next.

After going 11-0 in Russia, Musaev made the jump to Poland’s premier MMA organization and took on Hubert Szymajda at KSW 48 in April 2019. Musaev finished the bout with a first-round TKO with strikes after locking Szymajda in a crucifix on the mat. In his last matchup, which has been over a year now at this point, Musaev secured another first-round victory with a spectacular spinning back fist knockout of Grzegorz Szulakowski at KSW 52 in December 2019. A lightweight title shot has been awarded to Musaev against then-lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot, but the bout was canceled due to Musaev pulling out due to a knee injury. Regardless of the finalized weight for this matchup, the winner will find himself in top-notch positioning to battle for KSW gold.
