KSW launched their first event this past weekend, KSW 58, on January 30, 2021 and word has come out from their organization that there could be as many as nine events this year. If all goes to plan, there could even be one event outside of Europe.

“Career Year” for KSW

During the broadcast of KSW 58, co-owner of KSW, Pawel Wojcik, stated the Polish-based MMA organization is looking to showcase nine shows this calendar year of 2021. Martin Lewandowski, co-owner and a big part of the day-to-day actions of KSW, stated in an interview with the Polish news site, MMA Rocks, “We have eight or nine galas planned. Eight for sure. The ninth is still being specified, but if we manage to do so, it will be a record year for us. We will probably have to organize half of the year in an intimate place,” stated Lewandowski to MMA Rocks and translated by MMA Sucka.

Potential Event Locations

Also during the interview, Lewandowski stated KSW would love to return to Croatia and England. KSW 50 in London took place in September 2019 with the Croatia card to follow at KSW 51 in November 2019. Both cards were extremely successful as both countries boast massive talent inside KSW. Arguably KSW’s biggest star in Roberto Soldic is from Croatia while KSW’s pound-for-pound best, heavyweight champion Phil de Fries, is from England.

The comment was also made by Lewandowski that he would like to bring KSW into Germany for the first time. Germany is home to arguably Europe’s most famous gym, UFD Gym, which is located in Dusseldorf, Germany. With COVID-19 restrictions in place around the world, the gym can provide a plethora of talent, assuming it will be easy enough to get talent into the country for a show.

It was also mentioned about having a show, “outside of Europe.” That leaves a lot to choose from, but the odds are it will be close to Europe. Though many of the hardcore MMA fans know there is more than just the UFC in the world of MMA. Unfortunately, there probably is not enough steam in the United States, especially right now, for KSW to come all the way over the ocean for a show. If KSW is able to reel off nine shows in such troubling times, all fans around the world are winners.
