If you are looking for two prospects on the rise, then look no further than the second fight on the UFC Vegas 19 main card. Phil Hawes will square off against Nassourdine Imavov in a middleweight battle.

This will be the second time the Hawes vs. Imavov bout was scheduled. The two were supposed to tango at UFC Fight Island 7, however, Hawes had a non-COVID-related medical issue.

Phil Hawes vs. Nassourdine Imavov: UFC Vegas 19 Preview

Phil Hawes

Hawes (9-2) is coming into this contest on a five-fight winning streak and is 2-0 inside the Octagon. He showed his power in his debut with the promotion on Dana White’s Contender Series. Just one-minute and eighteen-seconds into the very first round he rocked Khadzhimurat Bestaev with an overhand right, followed by some nasty ground and pound. Most recently “Megatron” one-upped that finish by knocking out Jacob Malkoun in just 18-seconds at UFC 254 this past October. If you blink when Hawes is inside the Octagon you could miss something special.

Nassourdine Imavov

Also on a winning streak of his own, Imavov (9-2) has won six fights in a row. He has competed for many regional promotions, but just once under the UFC banner. Last October, the “Russian Sniper” made his Octagon debut. He earned a unanimous decision against Jordan Williams at UFC Fight Island 4.

The Matchup

Everyone knows what you get when Hawes enters the cage. The 32-year-old has dynamite inside his MMA gloves and will most definitely be looking for the knockout when he steps inside the Octagon on February 20. He has finished all of his opponents, with seven knockouts and two submissions. The man standing across from him at UFC Vegas 19 seems to have a far more unique game, with three knockout wins, four submissions, and two decisions. You never know which Imavov you will get or what he brings to the table. So as the saying goes, expect the unexpected.
