Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno fought to a draw in their championship classic. Now, the two fighters will be running back their 2020 fight of the year candidate. The UFC has announced, through ESPN, the two will try to settle their score on June 12 in a UFC flyweight championship bout.

‘The God of War’ Deiveson Figueiredo

Hairdresser, sushi chef, farmer, bricklayer, and finally UFC champion Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1-1). Born in Brazil Figueiredo grew up on a water buffalo farm with his family and would help herd buffalo as a cowboy in his childhood, until moving to the city and taking odd jobs for his family. “My title is dedicated to them, and to God. I’ve had rough spots. I’ve gone without food. Once, I didn’t have enough money for rent.” Figueiredo continues, “I had to find ways to get the very basics, like clothes. This belt would not only change my life, but also that of my family.”

Deiveson Figueiredo won the UFC flyweight championship by defeating perennial top contender Joseph Benavidez by first-round knockout. In his next bout, he defended his championship via first-round submission against Alex Perez. Then Figueiredo, living up to his God of War moniker, fighting to a draw with Brandon Moreno (18-5-2) in their fight of the year candidate. Born of Tijuana, Mexico Brandon Moreno’s family made Piñata‘s, “That’s how we made ends meet, I can say making piñatas made my dream possible.” Moreno was in law school before turning to MMA full-time. Moreno has impressively won 55% of his fights via submission, winning two Performance of the Night Bonuses. He was close to winning UFC gold against champion Deiveson Figueiredo. Moreno is a father to two daughters and will be looking to bring a UFC championship home for them.
