The main event of PFL 5 2021 will feature a battle between Rory MacDonald and Gleison Tibau.

On Wednesday, May 19, PFL officials announced the lineup for the second round of 2021 regular-season bouts for welterweights and light heavyweights, which goes down on June 17.
MacDonald (22-6-1) made his promotional debut at 2021 PFL 2 when he dominated Curtis Millender on route to a first-round submission victory. That victory earned Rory MacDonald six points towards his season standings, which has him tied with reigning PFL champion Ray Cooper III who finished Jason Ponet in the co-main event.
Tibau (35-15) lost a decision to Joao Zeferino in his PFL debut at 2021 PFL 2. Over the course of his last 10 fights, Tibau holds a 5-5 record. This will be Tibau’s second fight of 2021, and only his second fight in the past two years.
“There were a lot of exciting first round finishes that took place in the first half of the season for the welterweight and light heavyweight divisions and all of these fighters know it may take another first round victory to seal their fates in the playoffs,” said PFL President of Fighter Operations, Ray Sefo in a press release. “All these fighters can still qualify for the PFL playoffs and know it will be a challenge as they face a win or go home scenario. I can’t wait to see what happens next on June 17.”
