Just one day after the announcement of the split of the Danaher Death Squad, Gordon Ryan announced his next move.

Gordon Ryan Opening Academy in Austin, Texas

“The rumors are true- I’m moving to AUSTIN TEXAS and opening an academy with those who are deciding to stay with me,” Ryan stated on his official Instagram page. “There is uncertainty about who will go where as of now, but one thing that is sure is that I have an undeniable connection with my Texas fans and there is nothing in this world I love more than teaching those who support and love me. Texas jiu jitsu was already on the map, but myself and my team will make it the jiu jitsu capital of the world. Moving in the next couple of months, who is joining and what part of Austin should we open and why? 🤠🤠🤠”

Ryan who has proved that he is the best grappler on the face of the earth, signed with ONE Championship in March, 2021. Unfortunately just months after that announcement, he was forced to take a step away from the sport due to health issues.

Gordon Ryan is a two-time ADCC champion, IBJJF no-gi champion, multi-division EBI champion and holds too many professional grappling victories to name.

Fellow Danaher Death Squad teammate, Oliver Taza announced that he will be making the move with Ryan as well. On the flip side, however, Craig Jones announced on his Instagram that the ‘B-Team’ will stick together. That squad includes himself, Nicky Rodriguez, Ethan Crelinsten and oddly enough Gordon’s brother Nicky.

“Happy to announce the B Team is going to stick together and keep training. The goal remains the same.”

We will see what the future holds for the no-gi grappling world with the split of the most recognized squad within the community. Will Gordon Ryan still prevail?
