In what will be the most somber BKFC event, the promotion is back this weekend in Montana coming off the tragic passing of Justin Thornton. BKFC has the tough job of rolling on with the business while also paying their respects, as many imagine.

When it comes to the card BKFC has in store for fans, it is headlined by two names you would’ve been pumped to see on a UFC Fight Night card back in 2006 in Joe Riggs and Melvin Guillard.

“Diesel” Riggs is a name that MMA and BKFC fans should be very familiar with. He joined BKFC in 2018 and won on its third event card. He would start his career in BKFC with three straight wins before getting a draw in 2019. After two years away from the sport, Riggs would come back at BKFC 18 to fight Hector Lombard for the cruiserweight championship, where he would fall short by TKO. He will look to get back on track this weekend.

For Guillard, he actually looks to be born again in BKFC. Where he was at in his MMA career before making the switch was having him so far beyond the new generation of complete fighters. The Melvin Guillard who was known for his big knockouts or being knocked out made a lot of sense for BKFC, but for the people who were concerned, Guillard has quieted the doubters very quickly though.

While his record stands at 2-5 in his bare-knuckle boxing career, he has looked very good in his last couple of fights, despite the TKO loss to Scott O’Shaughnessy two fights ago. In his last fight at BKFC 20, he was winning until a foul caused his opponent to be unable to continue but it was a fight he was winning and looking impressive in.

The rest of the card doesn’t feature many other big-name guys from either MMA or BKFC, so this should serve as a prospect-building card where there will be some flashy finishes with those fighters seeing a rise in their stock inside the promotion.

The co-main event has Christine Ferea fights Calista Silgado, who will be making her BKFC debut. Ferea comes into the bout as the veteran of the matchup and is coming off a knockout victory in her last bout back in 2020. Silgado though, despite being a BKFC debutant, is a former professional boxer with 35 bouts in a long career inside of combat sports in general.

Other names worth watching besides the two main bouts include Tom Shoaff as he faces off against local Montanian Josh Wright. They also have another women’s bout between Taylor Starling who battles Randine Elkholm who is coming off a tough debut against the iconic Britain Hart.

BKFC always delivers on the content, so be sure to watch the fights this Saturday on BKTV, and follow along with MMA Sucka for any updates and results for the event!
