Glory Collision 3

This event will not feature Rico Verhoeven vs. Alistair Overeem as previously announced. Overeem had to drop out of this heavyweight title fight due to injury. “I deeply regret that I have to pull out of the fight against Rico Verhoeven,” Overeem said on Instagram. “I’ve never pulled out a fight before and trust me, this decision was hard to make.” But, the heavyweight title main event will still move forward with reigning champion Rico Verhoeven looking to defend his title in a trilogy grudge match against Jamal Ben Saddik.

Both fighters are full-size heavyweights with Verhoeven at 6’5” and 266 lbs and Ben Saddik at 6’9” and 271 lbs. The two have met twice already, and the series is tied one to one. In 2011, Ben Saddik earned a victory by overwhelming the young Verhoeven and forced a TKO by corner stoppage. In 2017, they met again and Ben Saddik had a lot of success early, but Verhoeven rallied back and won via fifth-round TKO. Now, the two decorated fighters meet for the third time to settle the score.

Ben Saddik is the 2018 Glory Heavyweight Grand Prix champion. He is currently on a four-fight win streak and has a KO victory in his most recent fight against Benjamin Adegbuyi, although the fighter has had some legal troubles and has not fought since 2018. Dutch-born Verhoeven is the current reigning Glory heavyweight champion, he has defended his title in nine fights and at this event, he will be looking to make it ten defenses.

Also featured on this fight event will be Gokhan Saki vs. James McSweeney. Saki has been in professional kickboxing since the year 2000 and has battled against its best champions including Badr Hari, Remy Bonjasky, Kyotaro, Alistair Overeem, Semmy Schilt, among others. The former light heavyweight champion recently stepped away from kickboxing and tried his hands in the UFC. After one win and one loss, Saki is now returning to kickboxing after nearly six years away. McSweeney has fought in any sports available including kickboxing, bare-knuckle boxing, and MMA, and has fought in K-1, UFC, ONE Championship, and KSW. Both fighters in this match will be fighting hard to hold relevance in this sport.

Number-one ranked welterweight “Hamicha” Mohamed Mezouari will meet French-born fighter Samuel Dbili. Also, heavyweight Benjamin Adegbuyi will face a stiff test against Croatian striker Antonio Plazibat.
