ONE Championship NextGen

Initially, this event planned to see the kickboxing light heavyweight championship on the line with Roman Kryklia defending against Murat Aygun. Aygun had to withdraw due to an injury and he was replaced by Iraj Azizpour for the inaugural heavyweight championship. Kryklia then had to withdraw from this fight due to “undisclosed medical issues.” Now, what’s scheduled, is a non-title, non-main event heavyweight bout of Azizpour versus veteran kickboxer Anderson “Braddock” Silva.

Instead, the main event will be filled with two fights advancing the women’s Atomweight Grand Prix. The rescheduled main event was originally planned to be Muay Thai and Kickboxing champion Stamp Fairtex versus top-ranked South Korean fighter Seo Hee Ham, as this fight was chosen by fans. However, Ham had to withdraw from the fight due to injury and has been replaced by streaking Brazilian Julie Mezabarba. The young Stamp Fairtex is a golden girl of ONE Championship, capturing titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai before she was even 23 years old. Now, she is coming to claim gold in MMA. Standing in her way will be Mezabarba, who is currently undefeated in her last 7 fights.

The co-main event will feature the second bout of the Atomweight Grand Prix Semi-Final will see the “Indian Tigress” Ritu Phogat face off against Jenelyn Olsim, of The Philippines. Originally, this bout was to be Ritu Phogat versus Japanese Judoka Itsuki Hirata. At the last minute, Hirata had to withdraw from her fight due to “undisclosed medical issues.” Phogat, of India, is a commonwealth gold medal wrestler, and her family is featured as the center of the Bollywood blockbuster “Dangal.” Her opponent Olsim is currently on a two-fight win streak in ONE Championship including her last victory over Bi Nguyen.
