Tony Ferguson Takes Aim at Daniel Cormier

Tony Ferguson has had quite the week. Being booked on the huge UFC 274 card, Ferguson was looking to bounce back from three consecutive losses against the star that is Michael Chandler. After the first five minutes, Ferguson looked like his old self. Dropping Chandler in the first round, Ferguson looked finally to be recapturing that old form that saw him capture the interim lightweight title and enjoy a 12 fight undefeated run. Unfortunately for ‘El Cucuy’, Chandler only needed to land one strike in the second round, a devastating front kick straight to the jaw of Ferguson, instantly separating him from consciousness.

Following the loss, many came out in support of Ferguson, including UFC 274 headliner, Charles Oliveira. Oliveira, unfortunately for the Brazillian, missed weight on Friday, being forced to relinquish his title on the scales. Ferguson has since come out and defended the weight controversy surrounding Oliveria’s weigh-in, taking aim at Daniel Cormier in the process.

Tony Ferguson and Daniel Cormier go Back and Forth on Twitter

Ferguson is referring to ‘towel gate’ at the UFC 210 weigh-ins. Cormier historically struggled to make 205lbs and appeared to utilise a towel to alleviate some of the weight on the scale. He hit the mark on this occasion, but there has certainly been some controversy around the weigh-in itself.

Ferguson took aim at Cormier on Twitter, whilst defending Oliveira with regards to his weight difficulties. He gave a shoutout to those who are ‘doin’ it right & Keepin’ the sport clean‘.

Cormier responded with a level of sympathy towards Ferguson, claiming ‘It is not a good look’.

Ferguson went back at Cormier, seeming to hint at Cormier taking drugs. Cormier then seemed to shut the interaction down by responding with ‘Get Michael Chandler he’s the one kicked your face not me’.

Do you agree with Ferguson and should Oliveira’s weight miss be investigated? Let us know in the comments below!
