Paris is quickly becoming a new hotbed for European MMA, and today Ares FC returns with their sixth show. Typically more of an international affair, today’s card is far more centered around French prospects on the come up. Thirteen fights air live on UFC Fight Pass, and MMA Sucka brings live Ares FC 6 results below.
Ares FC 6 Main Event – Italy vs. Poland
Despite being on a two-fight skid, Leonardo Damiani remains of Italy’s top prospects. After falling to AJ Fletcher on Dana White’s Contender Series 37, he then returned last December at Cage Warriors 131 and dropped a decision to Jamie Richardson. Damiani is at a turning point in his career. “Ram” is right in his prime but hit a bit of a wall when facing a certain level of competition. Against the Pole Muslim Tulshaev, Damiani has to get back to his grappling and potentially sacrifice entertainment for a safe win.
Of course, there is nothing “safe” about battling Tulshaev. While Damiani is at a crossroads, Tulshaev is making more and more pundits’ prospect lists and arrives in Paris with momentum on his side. Of course, the knock on Tulshaev has been his level of competition. Although training in Berlin, he’s fought most of his career in his home country fighting greener competition. His Ares debut came in February at Ares FC 3 against 25-8 Juan Manuel Suarez, where he knocked him out with a left hook in just under a minute.
A win over Damiani would solidify him as an international prospect, whereas Damiani has a chance to redeem himself.
Rest of the Card – France Shines
Ares FC 6 features fifteen French fighters, almost all of which have less than ten fights. Although inexperienced, eight of those are undefeated. Those facts signify that Ares FC 6 is the perfect show to tune in for a look into the future of MMA in France. Ian Entwistle, a British fighter who fought in the UFC as Dan Hooker‘s promotional debut, returns to fight 7-2 Frenchman Arthur Demonceaux. Entwistle has only competed a few times since losing to Hooker in 2014, so it is up in the air what kind of test he will be for the rising Demonceaux.
Another contest of interest is a bantamweight fight between top Russian prospect Dariya Zheleznyakova and recent UFC fighter Liana Jojua. A win over Georgia’s Jojua means that Zheleznyakova, currently undefeated at 6-0, is ready for the big show. Jojua went 1-3 in the UFC with her lone win being an armbar over Diana Belbita. Still with several good years ahead, Jojua can not be counted out and is going to give Zheleznyakova her toughest test to date.
Other prospects of note on the card are Moustapha Aida (8-0-1), Mossab El Marzkioui (4-0-1), and Asilder Badouiev (5-1). Also on the card is former Glory Kickboxing title challenger Karim Ghajji (2-2).
