Eagle Fighting Championship is set to return this evening at the FLXcast Arena in Miami, Florida for Eagle FC 47. The show will be main evented by a heavyweight bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos (21-9) and another UFC veteran in Cape Verde’s Yorgan De Castro (8-3).

Dos Santos will be looking to wash the taste out of his mouth of an 0-4 run to end his accomplished UFC career and show fight fans he still has plenty left to give the sport. He will be facing a supposed step-down in competition from his previous opponents, all of whom currently rank among the top-10 heavyweights in the world when he faces De Castro. The Cape Verdean is no slouch himself, however, holding a 2-0 record since getting cut from the UFC himself, already holding a win inside the Eagle FC cage. Six of his eight wins have come by way of finish and if he can down the former UFC champion, he will claim the biggest win of his career to date by a margin.

Eagle FC 47 is also set to feature a co-main event of fan-favorite UFC veterans when Hector Lombard (34-10) meets Thiago Silva (21-9). Both fighters’ stints inside the UFC came at two very different times in the sport, with Lombard’s run beginning at about the time Silva’s ended. However, Silva should have nearly every possible advantage according to the Tale of the Tape. He will be the larger fighter of the two, with Lombard coming up to 205 pounds for the first time in MMA for more than a decade. Lombard also serves as the current BKFC cruiserweight champion, holding a 3-1 record in the promotion. Silva is also five years younger despite being nine years removed from his UFC run, and fought the most recent fight of the two, falling to Martin Zawada via unanimous decision at KSW 49 back in 2019. Fans of standup warfare should be in for a treat.

Friday’s show will be the third event of the year held on American soil, a focus for the promotion since former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov bought and assumed control of the promotion back in 2020. Nurmagomedov suggests big things could be in store for Dos Santos if he can get by De Castro, potentially even a co-promoted fight with Bellator that would see him take on another legend in the sport in Fedor Emelianenko. With a loaded preliminary card consisting of familiar faces and up-and-coming talent, Friday’s show has the makings to be one of the biggest in the promotion’s short history in the U.S.

Fight fans can watch the show live and free on FLXcast app beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT for the prelims prior to the main card getting underway at around 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
