Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida had a long and winding road to ONE 158: Tawanchai vs. Larsen, but on Friday, June 3, he will finally step back inside the ONE Championship Circle to continue his mixed martial arts journey.

Buchecha Trains in Thailand for ONE 158

The road has been filled with multiple opponents, and his return was initially slated for ONE 157. However, another delay saw it pushed back to ONE 158. That change happened while he was already in Singapore.

Now the bout is set against Australia’s Simon Carson.

But Buchecha found ways to stay busy. The heavyweight talent provided commentary for the ONE 157 grappling matches and remained in the region to train. In the Brazilian’s most recent Instagram post, Almeida commented on wrapping up his training in Thailand.

“What a great week of training in Thailand! Feeling good for this fight on June 3rd, lots of things happened about dates and opponents, but it is what it is, Nothing has changed, the goal remains the same,” wrote Buchecha.

The American Top Team representative will be seeking his third consecutive victory inside the Circle on June 3.

In his first two performances, Buchecha showed why he is one of the most dangerous grapplers in the world with two swift submissions. Given his highly decorated background on the canvas, Buchecha is already a name to watch as a future contender.

And at ONE 158, Almeida’s story will be about dealing with adversity. Rolling with the punches happens outside of the Circle as well, as he will prove he can deal with the constant changes and still perform at the highest level.

ONE 158 will be another litmus test for Buchecha and where he can take his talents on the global stage. And it will be a massive opportunity for Carson to shock the world.

The compelling heavyweight matchup will be another look at the growing division and one of its most intriguing athletes. That makes it must-see.

ONE 158 airs live and free on watch.onefc.com on Friday, June 3. The action gets underway with the lead card beginning at 5:30 a.m. ET/2:30 a.m. PT.
