Submission grappling will get some shine when ONE Championship rolls into the 1stBank Center on Friday, May 5, for ONE Fight Night 10. The on-ground U.S. debut for ONE is shaping up to be a memorable night, and now two outstanding grapplers will meet inside the Circle. ONE Middleweight World Champion Reinier De Ridder will step onto the canvas against grappling phenom Tye Ruotolo in Colorado.
The two stars will square off in a catchweight superfight on the card, per the company’s announcement. It will be an outstanding showcase for the sport and give Ruotolo a chance to get a little bit of revenge against De Ridder. “The Dutch Knight” met Ruotolo’s mentor, Andre Galvao, in 2022 and went to a draw with the BJJ legend.

The matchup will mark the return of De Ridder since losing his ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship to Anatoly Malykhin. The grappling showcase will allow him to return to his roots against an incredible opponent while also allowing for the middleweight division to work itself out in the process. For Ruotolo, it’s an opportunity to take on a larger opponent and display why he’s one of the world’s most incredible grapplers.
Ruotolo has been incredible in ONE to date. In his organizational debut, he stunned the martial arts community with a 97-second submission over Garry Tonon. The quickness of the victory was shocking. In his return, Ruotolo dominated Marat Gafurov with a wristlock submission to continue his rise to stardom.
The incredible grappling match joins the epic trilogy between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes and other stars such as Sage Northcutt and Aung La N Sang. ONE is bringing its unique brand to the United States for the first time and is showing fans the full breadth of martial arts with its top stars. Colorado will be rocking on May 5 with this growing list of sensational bouts.
