On Wednesday, ONE Championship added another exciting bout to the lineup for its U.S. debut on May 5. Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Ok Rae Yoon will return to action against Lowen Tynanes at ONE Fight Night 10. Both men will seek to pick up a win on one of the year’s biggest cards and contend for the gold in 2023.
At one time, the Hawaiian native was seen as the future of the lightweight division. After five straight wins, he was on the doorstep of a title bid. However, injuries sidelined the American and left him unable to capitalize on his momentum.
Upon his return, he got back in the win column and was looking to re-enter the fray. A loss to former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov in 2020 was a setback, but he returned two years later to edge Dae Sung Park at ONE on Prime Video 5.
In his absence, the division drastically shifted. The South Korean was part of the new blood that joined the promotion in Tynanes’ absence, and he ascended all the way to the top of the mountain after an electric start with wins over Gafurov and Eddie Alvarez. Ok’s title win was a nailbiter against Christian Lee, and although he lost the rematch, the Team Mad star is ready to get back in the title picture by knocking off the American in hostile territory.
The matchup will have major implications in the lightweight division. It is another high-stakes, all-action matchup for ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado. ONE is bringing the heat for its U.S. debut with one of the year’s biggest cards.
